How much does it cost to sell at auction?
We agree your charge with you in writing before anything is catalogued. It is a commission, usually a percentage of the hammer price, and it is deducted from the proceeds rather than paid up front. Separately, the buyer pays a premium on top of the hammer price, and VAT where it applies. Marketing and any costs such as specialist handling or licensed waste disposal, where those are needed, are settled in writing before the sale rather than added afterwards.
