Business relocation and downsizing sales in Telford

Forklift Loading Truck

Telford was laid out so that a factory could move from a unit on one phase to a bigger one on the next without leaving the estate, and firms still do it. A plastics moulder at Halesfield outgrows a phase and takes a larger unit on Hortonwood. An automotive component maker on Stafford Park loses a platform and drops to half the floor. Both leave behind machines that were bought for the old building.

We sell those machines by online timed auction, from the unit, while you are still running the rest. Injection moulders, presses, chillers, granulators and the tool room equipment that goes with them are catalogued in place and tagged so the shop floor knows what is staying. Buyers view on one day, pay us and collect in a window that ends before the unit is handed back. We check the road, the yard and the door sizes at each unit before collection is planned, and the catalogue says what each machine needs.

Moulding machines that do not follow the moulds

Injection moulding machines are the biggest lots in a Telford plastics sale and the ones that travel furthest. The buyer arranges and pays for the removal inside the collection window, with services disconnected by qualified people, and we list the clamp tonnage, shot size, controller and hours so buyers can bid from a catalogue. Chillers, dryers, hopper loaders, granulators and material handling kit go alongside, and the tool room lathes, mills, grinders and spark eroders suit any engineering shop. Moulds themselves are a separate conversation. A mould for a customer's part usually belongs to the customer, and we leave it out unless you show us otherwise.

Automotive suppliers bring power presses, welding cells, assembly line sections and test rigs. Food processors bring stainless kit and packing lines.

We photograph each machine under power where the line is still running, because a moulder seen cycling answers questions that a cold one leaves open.

Moving between numbered phases on the same estate

A move within Telford has an advantage most towns cannot offer. The old and new units are often a few minutes apart on the A442, which means you can leave the sale lots in the old unit and move the rest, then let the auction and collection run after you have gone. There is no need to collect and store the sale lots, and no need for a viewing day while you are still producing.

The lease date still governs it. We aim to close the auction before handover and run collection after it, with the gap set by the number of lots and the removal each one needs. The landlord gets the unit back swept, with the machines gone and the services capped by the qualified people who disconnected them.

The trade in Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton, Bridgnorth and Stafford is within easy reach of the viewing day. Moulding machines and presses are catalogued for bidders across the country, and the M54 puts the estates within a day's round trip of most of it.

How the sale runs

We visit the site, list the lots and photograph them in place. You tell us which items are moving and which are for sale, and we tag the sale lots so there is no confusion on the shop floor.

The catalogue goes online as a timed auction. Bidding stays open for a set period, usually one to two weeks, and each lot closes at a fixed time with an extension if a bid arrives in the last minutes. We hold a viewing day at your premises, and lots are offered as seen under the auction terms, with buyers expected to inspect first.

After the sale we invoice the buyers and take payment. You are paid once the sale is reconciled and the collection window has closed, from cleared funds, less the agreed commission and any agreed costs. Buyers arrange and pay for removal, and our staff attend to release lots against paid invoices.

The business relocation and downsizing sales page covers when a relocation sale makes sense, timing the sale around the move, what to prepare, valuation and reserves, unsold lots and leftovers.

Questions about selling in Telford

Our moulding machines are on hire purchase. Does that stop the sale?

It delays it rather than stops it. A machine on hire purchase or lease belongs to the finance company until it is settled, and we need the lender's written consent or a settlement figure before it goes in the catalogue. Where the lender agrees, the settlement figure is usually paid from the proceeds. We ask about finance on our first visit so there is time to sort it. If the settlement is higher than the likely sale price, handing the machine back may be the better option.

The new unit is on the same estate. Can buyers view at the old one after we have moved?

Yes, and it is often the simplest arrangement. Once your production has gone to the new unit, the old one holds only sale lots, so the viewing day and the collection window can run without anyone tripping over your staff. Keep power and lighting on for the viewing day, so that machines which can be run safely can be demonstrated by your staff where that is agreed. Everything else is isolated and left safe, all lots are isolated by a competent person before collection, and electrical and gas disconnection is done by qualified people. Tell the landlord the dates so the handover inspection is booked after the last collection.
