Warehouse and logistics equipment sales in Hull

Industrial Warehouse with Forklift and Shelving

Caravan and holiday home building runs to a season, and so do the stores that feed it. Chassis and joinery suppliers around Sutton Fields and Kingswood, and the upholstery firms alongside them, hold racking for long components, forklifts fitted for awkward loads and stretch wrap machines for finished parts. When a supplier loses a contract, that equipment comes to market in a rush. The freight forwarders and hauliers along Hedon Road add a steady flow of racking, pallet trucks and dock equipment as contracts change hands.

We sell warehouse and logistics equipment by online timed auction, on site where the premises allow and from our own premises where they do not. Vehicle access, turning space and loading facilities are checked before anything is listed, so the catalogue says what can reach the door. Bidding is online and open nationally, and the trade in Beverley, Goole, Hedon and Cottingham, and over the Humber Bridge in Lincolnshire, is near enough to attend the viewing day. Tell us what you have through the contact form.

Long components and the racking that holds them

A caravan chassis is several metres long and a window frame or a run of joinery is not far behind, so the supply chain uses cantilever racking, longspan shelving with extended beams and forklifts with long forks or side shift. None of that is standard warehouse kit, and it needs describing properly. We record beam lengths and load ratings, fork lengths and attachments, and we photograph the racking with something in it so buyers can judge the scale.

The trade that uses this equipment is mostly other firms in the same sector, and the East Riding has plenty of them within reach of a viewing day, so there are bidders nearby who know what the racking was built for. Beyond them, timber merchants, window fabricators, joinery shops and steel stockholders across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire use the same kit. Stretch wrappers, pallet scales and hand pallet trucks from the packing area suit almost any warehouse, and we lot them in small groups so a small firm can bid for one without bidding for ten.

Haulage sheds beside the docks

The forwarding and haulage sheds between Hedon Road and King George Dock turn over contracts quickly, and when a shipping customer moves, the shed operator wants the racking out and the trucks gone before the next tenant arrives. These sales are fast by nature. Most sheds have dock levellers, a fleet of powered pallet trucks, a couple of reach trucks and racking in long runs, all of it standard equipment that other operators fit out with.

The A63 brings a lorry in from the M62, and the port roads carry articulated traffic, though the yard, the gate and the loading arrangements are still checked at the visit and written into the catalogue. Timing collection around a working dock is the harder part. We agree collection days for when the yard is quiet, keep buyers to a marked route and put the racking at the end of the window. Hauliers and forwarders in Hull and Goole use this equipment, and dealers take whole runs of racking to resell.

How the sale runs

After a site visit we agree what is in the sale and what stays. We catalogue and photograph each lot, list the sale online and market it to warehouse operators, dealers and contractors. Bidders view on a set day, then bid online over the sale period, with lots closing in sequence.

Lots are offered as seen under the auction terms, with buyers expected to inspect before bidding. The buyer pays the hammer price plus a buyer's premium, with VAT charged where it applies and shown separately. We collect payment before release.

Collection runs over a window agreed with you. Buyers arrange and pay for the removal of their lots, with suitable handling equipment or specialist contractors where the item needs them. Our staff attend to release lots against paid invoices and see that dismantling is done safely.

The warehouse and logistics equipment sales page covers racking and how it comes down, forklifts and the records that matter, the small equipment adds up, timing a sale around a site handover.

Questions about selling in Hull

Our food processing store has plastic pallets and pallet scales. Do those sell on their own?

Yes. Food grade plastic pallets go into bulk lots aimed at other food and pharmaceutical firms, and there are several of those around Hull. Condition matters to them, so pallets want to be clean and ready to use. Pallet scales, floor scales and label printers make single lots for any warehouse that weighs outbound goods, and stretch wrap machines suit the same bidders. We lot these items so a bidder can take the whole packing line or one piece of it, and we check that scales have their calibration labels before viewing day.

Does a sale here reach the trade south of the Humber?

It does. The Humber Bridge puts Barton and the Lincolnshire estates within an easy run of Hull, so a viewing day is in reach of the trade on both banks. We market each sale on both sides of the river and further along the M62 towards Goole, and online bidding covers the rest of the UK. Heavy lots are removed by the buyer's own haulier, at the buyer's cost, and we record at the visit how much room there is to load.
