Warehouse and logistics equipment sales in Wolverhampton

Industrial Warehouse with Forklift and Shelving

Wolverhampton's warehouse equipment comes out of factory stores more often than out of distribution sheds. Pressings and fabrication firms on the Planetary and Wednesfield Way estates keep steel in cantilever racking and finished parts in stillages, with a counterbalance truck that has done many years of work. The newer plants around i54 and the logistics sheds off the M54 have the reach trucks, dock levellers and long racking runs of a modern warehouse.

We sell from both by online timed auction. On the older Black Country estates the roads are narrow and yards are often shared, so we walk the route out and check the turning space, the door dimensions and the loading facilities before deciding whether buyers collect from the site or the lots are collected to our own premises. Bidding is online, and the trade in Walsall and Dudley is close at hand. Use the contact form to tell us what you have and when the building must be clear.

Old estates, narrow roads and a plan for collection

The estates at Wednesfield and Willenhall were laid out for smaller lorries, and some units have shared yards, so what a vehicle can do there is a question for the site visit rather than the address. That does not stop a sale, but it shapes it. Where the turning space is short, a forklift may have to leave on a beavertail and racking on rigid flatbeds over more than one day, which the buyer arranges and pays for. Bidders are told in the catalogue what the site takes, so nobody arrives with a lorry that cannot get in.

Where the unit is very tight, collection is usually the answer. Where it is agreed, the trucks and loose equipment go to our premises before the sale closes and only the racking is sold for dismantling on site. The trade in Walsall and West Bromwich knows Black Country access and prices it in, which is the argument for a collection plan that is settled rather than hopeful. The site visit is the hour that decides most of this.

Steel stores, stillages and the truck that lifted them

A pressings or fabrication works holds steel, and steel needs heavier storage than cartons. Cantilever racking for bar and tube, A frames for sheet, heavy duty pallet racking for coil and castings, and forklifts with capacities of four or five tonnes. When the works closes, the same trades nearby use all of it, along with stockholders and dealers further off.

We list cantilever racking by arm length and rating, and pallet racking by bay with beam loadings. Forklifts go in with capacity, hours, examination report and any attachments. High capacity trucks come up less often second hand, so the records and the attachments carry a lot of weight in what a five tonne truck reaches. Stillages, post pallets, coil cradles and pallet boxes go in bulk lots. If the presses and machinery are selling at the same time, the stores equipment goes into the same auction, and the racking comes down after the plant has been rigged out, in an order agreed with you.

How the sale runs

After a site visit we agree what is in the sale and what stays. We catalogue and photograph each lot, list the sale online and market it to warehouse operators, dealers and contractors. Bidders view on a set day, then bid online over the sale period, with lots closing in sequence.

Lots are offered as seen under the auction terms, with buyers expected to inspect before bidding. The buyer pays the hammer price plus a buyer's premium, with VAT charged where it applies and shown separately. We collect payment before release.

Collection runs over a window agreed with you. Buyers arrange and pay for the removal of their lots, with suitable handling equipment or specialist contractors where the item needs them. Our staff attend to release lots against paid invoices and see that dismantling is done safely.

The warehouse and logistics equipment sales page covers racking and how it comes down, forklifts and the records that matter, the small equipment adds up, timing a sale around a site handover.

Questions about selling in Wolverhampton

The business is in administration and the administrator wants the unit at Wednesfield cleared fast. How quickly can a sale run?

For a stores of ordinary size, about three weeks from instruction to final collection is a fair assumption, though it turns on the lot count, the access and how quickly buyers pay. As a guide, we would propose a visit within days, a day or two of cataloguing, a week to ten days of bidding with a viewing day, then a collection window of about a week, with the exact dates depending on the size of the catalogue and the access. Racking sets the pace, because the buyer arranges and pays for the dismantling. If the building must go back sooner, the lot can be collected to our premises instead.

Our racking is in a first floor store reached by a goods lift. Is it still worth selling?

Yes, though it changes who bids. Racking on a first floor comes down in sections and goes out through the lift or down a stair, so the removal arrangements follow the weight, the dimensions and the route. We record the lift capacity, the door dimensions and the floor levels, and the catalogue says how the store is reached. New racking is costly and slow to deliver, which keeps fit out contractors and smaller warehouses interested.
